Petretin Studio presents:
Petites Mains

Costume Workshop for the performance "Mountains"

Garage 21, Corfu

Saturday, May 24, 2025

18:00 – 21:00

The first workshop by Petretin Studio takes place in Corfu, on the occasion of the rehearsals for Mountains — the new performance by Mary Randou and Eva Randou. The piece will premiere this June at the Venice Biennale, with Eva Randou performing live on stage.

During the workshop, children will help create the costume Eva will wear in the performance. Participants will follow a pre-designed costume pattern made specifically for Eva. The goal is to produce six identical costumes for her appearances in Venice.

The workshop welcomes 18 children, divided into three age groups. Each group will be responsible for a different stage of the costume-making process: from sketching, pattern cutting, and fabric shaping to assembling and sewing the final garment. According to their age, children will contribute to different phases of production — patternmaking, shaping, cutting, and stitching.

Each child will receive a personal kit with tools and materials carefully selected for their age and the needs of the workshop. This kit will be used during the session and taken home afterwards.

We'll have paper, markers, pencils, and erasers. Fabric, scissors, thread, pins, safety pins — and lots of needles! Measuring tapes, thimbles, and all the little things that help bring a garment to life. With full hands and wide smiles, children will design, cut, pin, and sew — transforming simple materials into costumes, and gestures into a lasting experience.

Each age group will be accompanied by one adult supervisor, ideally a parent, to support the smooth running of the session. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. (Please let us know in advance about any allergies or health conditions.)

This workshop does not focus on fashion design or new ideas. It is a chance to explore what comes after the idea — the steps that turn a sketch into fabric and fabric into a garment. Pattern, cutting, assembly, sewing. It is a tribute to all those who give form and presence to an idea, those who build with their hands. To all the petites mains — the quiet yet essential forces behind every costume.

With joy, creativity, and collaboration, we'll create something real — together.

We look forward to welcoming you to this special experience.
